Instrument  Rating.

Don’t let clouds, low visibility, or challenging weather keep you grounded. I’m Jesse Vess, a Certified Flight Instructor – Instrument (CFII) with years of real-world flight experience, and I’ll personally guide you through every step of your Instrument Rating course. Whether you’re pursuing a professional aviation career or flying for fun, my hands-on instruction ensures you gain the knowledge, confidence, and decision-making skills needed to navigate safely in any conditions.

Our Instrument Rating course teaches you how to read and interpret aircraft instruments, plan and execute IFR flights, and make sound decisions even in less-than-perfect weather. With personal guidance from an experienced CFII, you’ll build the skills and confidence to fly safely in clouds, low visibility, and beyond visual limits.

Most students complete the course in approximately 2 months, depending on weekly availability. By the end, you’ll be fully prepared for the FAA Instrument Rating Exam and Checkride, ready to take your flying to new heights.

Career Pilot Guidance

The Instrument Rating is a critical step in any pilot’s journey—whether you’re pursuing aviation as a professional career or flying for recreation. This rating teaches you how to safely operate an aircraft in all weather conditions, including clouds, low visibility, and challenging situations.

For career pilots, the Instrument Rating is essential for advancing to commercial flying and ultimately becoming a Certified Flight Instructor or airline pilot.

For recreational pilots, this rating significantly improves safety, confidence, and flexibility when flying your own aircraft, allowing you to enjoy more consistent and reliable flights.

At Vess Aviation, we provide structured instruction, mentorship, and real-world experience to ensure you master instrument flying safely and effectively.

Other Instrument Rating Benefits

Earning your Instrument Rating not only improves your skills and safety but can also significantly reduce your aircraft insurance premiums. By learning to fly confidently in all weather conditions, you demonstrate advanced proficiency and decision-making—factors that insurers reward with lower rates.

Beyond cost savings, the Instrument Rating allows pilots to fly safely in clouds, low visibility, and challenging weather, making every flight more flexible and reliable.
